Terri Pettit, President

Terri is a General Manager of CIBC Bank and a mother of two daughters living in Ancaster. She grew up in Brantford with a single mother and three siblings. A huge part of her life was the YWCA in Brantford that allowed her to participate in programs that would not be available to her otherwise financially. She hopes that her participation in the YWCA Hamilton will improve the lives of other young girls and single mothers.

Cathie Miller, Past President

Cathie works at McMaster University as a Director of Housing and Conference Services. She has gone to school here, found her home here and established a second career here, She has decided it was time to give back to the community and chose the YWCA because of the excellent services it provides to the community especially to women, children and developmentally disabled individuals. It takes very special people to commit to making a difference in other people's lives and the YWCA staff and volunteers are role models in this work. Her motto: “Learn, Share, Grow”.

Pearl Mendonça graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Social Work and Psychology, and has worked at McMaster in various student leadership development roles. She has a keen interest in alternative health, and is looking forward to working with a talented team on the YWCA Board, serving women, girls and their families in our community.

Yulena Wan, Treasurer

Yulena is a Chartered Accountant who was born and raised in Hamilton, She has always been greatly involved in local volunteering, and knows what a community can do for its members.
Through being on the Board, she hopes to give back to the local communities that she has so greatly benefited from, especially with our young women and girls.

Angela was motivated to join the YWCA Board because of her passion for women’s health and gender equity. While on the Board, she wants to promote equitable, culturally sensitive programs that promote health and well-being for women and girls so that they can achieve their full potential.

Joanna Finocchi is a Teacher, who considers Hamilton her hometown. It has been a place of opportunity, growth and friendship for her. She was motivated to join the Board of Directors, because she believes that our city should be a place where children can truly be whatever they want to be & women have access to equal opportunities – like she did growing up.
To her, the YWCA Board works as a collaborative team. Ideas are encouraged and basic work is done to ensure clients’ needs are met. She hopes to be a Board member that continues to contribute to, and forward, the goals of our YWCA..

Dr. Kassia Johnson, Member
Virginia Mendes da Costa, Member

Virgina, is a Lawyer and Mediator. She grew up in Toronto after her family moved to Canada. Both Virginia and her brother always participated in the swimming lessons offered at the local YWCA. During her time at University she sought out the YWCA to join the fitness program. After she moved to Hamilton she sought out the YWCA again and enrolled in the fitness program.
She has learned that the YWCA has so much more to offer. She is delighted to be a member of the Board and to play a part in enhancing the programs and services offered at the YWCA.

Catherine Raso, Member

Catherine is a Governance Consultant and has deep roots in the community of Hamilton. She was born and raised in Hamilton, graduated from McMaster University and is now raising her family here. Catherine is excited about being able to contribute to the success of the Hamilton YWCA because of 2 matters that are close to her heart—women and the Hamilton community.

Florence Sicoli, Member

Florence is a retired journalist who has worked as an editor, a news/features writer and a university instructor of print journalism. As a single parent, she has received help from the YWCA to raise a healthy daughter.
She joined the Board of Directors to give back to the women and families who now need the YWCA programs and services.
