YWCA Hamilton Announces 34 incredible Women Nominated for the 2018 Women of Distinction Awards

Nominees were honoured on Thursday, 18 January 18 2018 at the Art Gallery of Hamilton during the Women of Distinction Nominee Reception. The nominee reception was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Burlington.

The Women of Distinction Awards are nationally recognized as one of the most prestigious awards for women. YWCAs from across Canada join in the celebration each year, honouring the achievements of women across the country.

Recipients of YWCA Hamilton’s Women of Distinction Awards will be announced at the awards evening on Thursday, March 8, 2018 (International Women’s Day) at Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s. YWCA Hamilton is pleased to announce that ArcelorMittal Dofasco is this year’s Presenting Sponsor.

Front Desk Volunteer

TYPE: In-person

Front Desk Volunteer, while providing assistance to the Front Desk team, will welcome clients, volunteers, staff, and community members at the MacNab and Putman Family YWCA facilities.

Good Beginnings Volunteer

TYPE: Hybrid, both virtual and in-person opportunities exist
TIME COMMITMENT: 2 to 3 hours per week, plus travel time for in-home visits

YWCA Good Beginnings is a volunteer assistance program available for mothers in Hamilton and the surrounding area with infants younger than six months of age. The program involves weekly in-home visits from a trained volunteer
