About Us

Who We Are

Our Mission

YWCA Hamilton strengthens women’s and girls’ voices, broadens their choices, builds dynamic leadership and provides essential and meaningful services that promote safe, inclusive, and equitable communities.

Our Vision

Women and girls have the rights, resources and opportunities to shape their own lives and define their communities.

Our Values

Equity

We root our work in the strengths and achievements of feminism and recognize that an investment in girls and women builds a stronger future for everyone.

Self-determination

We respect and support women’s and girls’ choices to build better futures for themselves and their families.

Inclusion

We are committed to diversity and inclusion to address the ever-changing needs of our communities. YWCA Hamilton programs are inclusive of all women, non-binary, gender-fluid and trans individuals of all genders.

Community

We work in community and partnership with local, national and international movements and organizations to achieve equity and justice for women, girls and families.

Accountability

We are responsible and accountable to the people and communities we serve.

YWCA programs are inclusive of all women, non-binary, gender fluid and trans individuals of all genders.

Our impact is made possible on the lands of the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabeg. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties, within the lands protected by the “Dish With One Spoon” wampum agreement, and is directly adjacent to Haldimand Treaty territory. We respect the longstanding relationships with the local Indigenous communities, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Six Nations of the Grand River, and are committed to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report.
