Dr. Karen McAssey is an accomplished Pediatric Endocrinologist and strong female role model with 20+ years of experience in the healthcare industry. Karen uses her knowledge and skills to improve the lives of people living with diabetes, endocrine and bone disorders. She holds many leadership roles including Medical Director for the Pediatric Diabetes Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Chair of the Medical Pre-Clerkship Program at the Michael DeGroote School of Medicine (McMaster University), and Co-Investigator for Trial Net Study, which identifies people at risk of developing type 1 diabetes, and investigates potential prevention strategies. For the past 20+ years she has volunteered at Camp Huronda, a camp for children and teenagers living with diabetes. She is a strong leader, advocate, and role model to her staff, colleagues, medical learners, patients and her daughters, Lauren and Emily.
