Today is Giving Tuesday.

It’s the world’s largest generosity movement and rooted in unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

At YWCA Hamilton, we’ve seen the power of your radical generosity on Giving Tuesday for the last few years during our “Give Meals on Giving Tuesday” campaign. Since launching on Giving Tuesday 2020, you have donated 5,818 meals for women and gender diverse people experiencing homeless, violence and poverty.

You helped put food on the table for hundreds of women each year over the holidays. You’ve shown up to ensure that those who call YWCA Hamilton home have hot, nutritious meals. You’ve rallied behind those most in need in our community and we simply can’t thank you enough.

On this Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to join our Smash the Patriarchy Club and commit to creating change all year long. Your monthly commitment of $5, $10 or $20 will make a real, lasting difference for women, girls and gender diverse people in Hamilton and Halton.

But this year, we have a different request.  We need your help to ensure to can continue to be there for those who need us most.

As a member of the Smash the Patriarchy Club, you will help us provide support and programming for those who need it most — programming like our ground-breaking new emergency reproductive care beds for women and gender diverse people experiencing homelessness; our newly renovated Carole Anne’s Place serving unsheltered individuals; and our ongoing response to marginalized asylum seekers in our community.

Being a member of the Smash the Patriarchy Club is more than just a monthly gift.

You are helping to create change and advocate for more equitable communities while challenging patriarchal attitudes and gender stereotypes. You are becoming part of a powerful movement that will help create waves of change in our community. Together, we can continue to ensure that everyone in our community – no matter their gender identity, housing status, sexual orientation, or country of origin – is treated with dignity, fairness and compassion, this holiday season and beyond.
