2022 EVENT UPDATE: Although we were looking forward to hosting an inspirational breakfast program in partnership with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board and our sponsors, we will be postponing the Rise and Shine Young Trailblazers Breakfast until May 2023 due to impeding labor disruptions.

We look forward to welcoming youth and all partners in Spring 2023 to amplify the voices of young women, non-binary and gender fluid youth in Hamilton and Halton.

Please check back soon for more information!

Get Ready to Rise

YWCA Hamilton is excited to re-launch the Rise & Shine Young Trailblazers Breakfast in honour of former YWCA Hamilton CEO, Jill Rumble and the RISE Collective, YWCA Hamilton’s youth-led collective that centres and amplifies the voices of young women, non-binary, and gender fluid youth in Hamilton and Halton.

In partnership with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, YWCA Hamilton will welcome hundreds of youth for a morning of empowerment and engagement unlike any other.

This event is closed to the general public and works directly with partner schools across Hamilton to welcome students during their school day.

You may recognize this event by its previous name: The Totally Awesome Young Women’s Breakfast. Our decision to change the name to Rise & Shine Young Trailblazers Breakfast is an important one because we know that in addition to girls, that Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ youth deserve to be empowered, engaged and encouraged to make waves in Hamilton and Halton.

It is our responsibility as an organization and as a community to empower youth, especially those who have been historically left out of the conversation.

Jam Gamble, Slayer of the Mic

We are excited to announce Rise & Shine Young Trailblazers Breakfast Keynote Speaker as Jam Gamble, Slayer of The Mic. Jahmeelah (Jam) Gamble is one of Toronto’s gifted leaders who encourages everyone to #SLAYTHEMIC!

The multi-passionate media personality and speaker is on a mission to help people build their confidence and amplify their voice. From the boardroom, school auditorium, to the Rise & Shine Young Trailblazers Breakfast, the Brampton raised speaker inspires people of all ages to not only love the sound of their voice and inspire the world with their ideas, but for everyone to communicate more meaningfully with one another.
