Move More – How It Works
This year, there are three ways you can Move More for Encore. You can participate in them all, or choose what works best for you!
October 1 - 31, 2022 with weekly in-person activities
During October, you can join and show your support for survivors of breast cancer by committing to 150 minutes of movement per week and fundraising $150.
October 29, 2022
On October 29, let's all come together for the ultimate Movement Marathon in-person! The Health and Wellness Team at YWCA Hamilton will be facilitating several movement classes. Be sure to take this time to also celebrate your movement challenge achievements!
November 5 - 6, 2022
If you want to keep on moving alongside survivors of breast cancer, join us at Road2Hope on November 5th and 6th. You can register for a 5k run, half-marathon, full marathon or whatever your heart desires! When registering, be sure to select YWCA Hamilton as your charity of choice for donations.Register for R2H
Step 1: Register
Move alongside survivors of breast cancer. Register for Move More for Encore and participate in weekly movement activities/check-ins with members of our Health & Wellness team. Engage in movement motivated events, get ideas and tips on how to move your body, customized support and access to prizes!
Once registered, you’ll gain access to your personal fundraising page which you can customize and share with your contacts. You’ll also receive personalized supports and resources to help you reach your fundraising goals.
You can also link a Strava account with your personal fundraising page. This way, you can actively share your most recent movement achievements with your friends, family and donors! Strava is a GPS cycling and running app that allows you to track your exercise and share your results with your community!
To wrap up the month of October, join us in-person for our Movement Marathon and Celebration on October 29, 2022.
Step 2: Raise funds and get moving
During the month of October, move alongisde breast cancer survivors while reducing your own risks. Set your movement goal (we encourage 150 mins per week) and start moving! Attend our weekly movement activities/events to help reach your goal! You can also use our movement tracking resources or the Strava app, and share your goals with your fellow movers!

Step 3: Join the movement
Move alongside survivors during Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Participate in our weekly movement activities, and hear from guest speakers while getting movement tips and tricks from our Health and Wellness staff team. Celebrate your movement milestones with us on October 29th at our Movement Marathon. Together, we’ll move together, reflect, announce prize winners and share more about the impact of your support.
Move More & Win
Attending the Movement Marathon on October 29th, 2022? You’ll get a free t-shirt to wear while you move alongside survivors, as well as an entry for our door prize! That’s not all, by participating in Move More for Encore, you can get entered in to win multiple prizes!
All prizes will be awarded to the winners at the Movement Marathon on October 29th, 2022.
