| JOIN Settlement program will be hosting an information session about Police Services in Hamilton. The guest speaker Ryan Clarke from the Hamilton Police Service’s Crime Prevention team, will discuss various topics related to your rights and responsibilities when calling 911, traffic stops, and being detained or arrested. The session will discuss the following topics: – Calling 911: Process, Expectations & your rights when the officer arrives at your residence. -Traffic Stops: What to expect, information & your right when you get a ticket. -Different areas of policing: Marine, K9, detectives, and more. -Police functions Main duties and types of calls the police respond to. -Detainment and arrest procedures & how police handle language barriers. -Equipment used by police and its purpose. |
