“This session will educate Asylum seekers, Refugee Claimant, or a person from a conflict zone on temporary status who identify as women, gender-diverse, 2SLGBTQIA+ or nonbinary persons with precarious status on the following:
1. Introduce the Canadian Tax System: Provide an overview of how the tax system works in Canada, including key terms and concepts.
2. Identify Required Documents: Explain the essential documents needed for tax filing, such as T4 slips, receipts, and identification.
3. Guide Through the Filing Process: Offer a step-by-step guide on how to file taxes, including online and paper filing options.
4. Highlight Important Deadlines: Highlight critical tax deadlines to ensure timely filing.
5. Discuss Common Deductions and Credits: Educate newcomers on common deductions and credits they may be eligible for.
6. Avoid Common Pitfalls: Share tips on how to avoid common mistakes and ensure accurate tax returns.”
