Women of Distinction Awards

March 4, 2021
YWCA Hamilton’s Women of Distinction Awards is dedicated to highlighting women and girls in Hamilton and Halton who have made a real impact during the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, we have reimagined our award categories to shine a light on those at the forefront of Covid-19, including frontline workers, innovators, advocates, change-makers, young trailblazers, and everyday heroes who rolled up their sleeves in response to the pandemic.
The Courage of Covid
YWCA Hamilton will leverage the Women of Distinction platform to shine a light on the women and girls who have rolled up their sleeves in response to the pandemic. Join us for a special edition of our annual Women of Distinction Awards Program.
No Typical Year
This has not been a typical year for YWCA Hamilton, or for women in Hamilton and Halton. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit our community hard. Women across the globe have been disproportionally impacted by the pandemic, with 56 per cent of women holding occupations within the 5Cs: caring, cashiering, catering, cleaning and clerical functions. As a result, more women than men have had to risk their health and safety for the overall good of our communities.
Women of Distinction 2021 will honour the women who showed exceptional courage in the face of Covid-19. Our reimagined award categories will highlight frontline workers, innovators, advocates, change-makers, young trailblazers, and everyday heroes who rolled up their sleeves in response to the pandemic.
