It was a week of fun, celebration, and learning at YWCA Hamilton as we celebrated our incredible team at our annual Staff Appreciation event!
The week kicked off with a message of appreciation from our CEO, Denise Christopherson. Staff were also treated to a special discount code in our newly relaunched YWCA Hamilton Store, as well as the first of our daily raffle draw winners! Each day of the week, three lucky staff members were treated to a YWCA Hamilton Swag Bag, a Gift Basket, and an extra day of vacation, respectively.
On Wednesday, we celebrated an Open House at our MacNab Street building – a special treat for many staff who have been working from home since the pandemic, and have yet to see all the spaces and services available in the building.
During the MacNab Open House, staff were offered free ice cream in front of the building, invited to explore our Snoezelen room, and attend a free yoga session. Staff were also offered a hand spa with henna, hand massages, and nail polish.
On Thursday, people leaders across the organization visited all YWCA Hamilton locations with special treats for staff. Yum!
Finally, on Friday, staff across the organization marked the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with special reflections and events. Staff were treated to free ice cream once again and invited to tour our new Putman Family YWCA on Ottawa Street and view newly installed art in the lobby by Indigenous artist Shelley Niro. We shared reflections from staff members who had attended a recent healing gathering with We Dance for Life, an organization that advocates for healing and awareness focused on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit People.
Each one of our hardworking staff here at YWCA Hamilton is an essential part of the work we do in the community. We are so appreciative of the work of each one of our incredible team here at YWCA Hamilton, and we had a blast celebrating with you during Staff Appreciation Week!
