We understand that you may be visiting our website or other websites to get private resources and information. If you are considering leaving an abusive relationship, we want to help ensure your safety. There is a greater risk of violence when an intimate relationship is coming to an end. You can get support and plan for you and your family.
We recommend browsing any private or confidential information in private mode where possible. These private browsing modes are often called New Incognito Window (Google Chrome) or New Private Window (Safari and Firefox).
Please take proper precautions; follow these steps to clear your browser’s history, cookies and cache files. However, it does not guarantee that no information will be left on your browser or personal computer. Please take precautions with any devices that can track your location or online activities.
Clearing History and Cache Files:
- Tap on the three small dots at the top right corner of your browser.
- From the list that appears select History > History. Here you can select individual websites you would like to delete. You also have the option to Clear Browsing Data, a new window will open with options to use a time frame of the data you want to clear.
- Check off all the criteria that applies, and click Clear data and close the Settings window or tab
Clear your entire browsing history:
- Click on the Bookmark icon at the top-right corner of your browser. (It looks like vertical lines similar to this: |||\ )
- From this menu, select the History > Clear Recent History.
- A new window will prompt, choose a timeframe and options that applies, click OK to confirm.
Clear specific items in your browsing history:
- Click on the Bookmark icon at the top-right corner of your browser. (It looks like vertical lines similar to this: |||\ )
- From this menu, select History > Show All History (at the very bottom of the menu)
- A new window will prompt, select item to Delete Page or Forget About This Site to clear all the pages visited on the website.
Clear cookies and cached:
- Open the menu by clicking the icon with three lines at top-right of your browser.
- Select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac).
- A new page will prompt, select Privacy & Security tab from the menu on the left.
- Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data, here you can choose to Clear Data or Manage Data. **Clear Data will erase all cookies and site data, if you wish to only erase cookies and data for a specific site, then choose Manage Data and proceed to next step.
- Select the specific item(s) and click Remove Selected, then Save Changes to confirm.
- From the Safari menu at the top of your screen (above your browser), select History > Show All History.
- A new browser window will prompt, here you can right-click on individual items to delete or Clear History.
- Close the window once you are done.
- Click on the Settings icon top-right corner of your browser.
- From the menu, click on Internet Options.
- A new “internet option” window will prompt, inside the General tab, click Delete.. in Browsing History section.
- A new Delete Browsing History window will prompt, select all applicable. We recommend selecting Temporary Internet files and website files, and Cookies and website data, and History.
- Click Delete at the bottom to confirm. Click OK to close Internet Options window.
- In Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more … > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
- Under Clear browsing data, select what to clear.
- Under time range, choose a time range.
- Select Cookies and other site data, then select Clear now.
Cover your email tracks
- Be sure to delete any outgoing and incoming emails (both inbox and sent).
- It is best practice to change your email password often (at least once a month).
- Print all threatening and harassing emails to use as evidence of criminal activity.
